PC PARAMEDIC'S TIPS for protecting yourself from viruses
------------------------------------------------
1. Install am anti-virus program such as Norton Antivirus (recommended), McAfee VirusScan or the free AVG Anti-Virus (download from http://www.grisoft.com ).
2. Make sure it's set up right and is running all the time (there should be an icon in the system tray at the bottom right of the screen).
3. Update it REGULARLY by downloading updates from the Internet (at least once a month - preferably once a week).
4. Periodically run a virus scan of your entire computer.
5. Delete suspicious e-mails immediately.
6. NEVER open an e-mail attachment or a file on a disk unless you know what it is. Even if you do know, scan it for viruses first. |
